Songs that Inspire

Isn’t it interesting how one simple song can have a dramatic impact on our lives. I remember when my mother and father separated one of the songs that mum played on the record player regularly was the Helen Reddy hit, “I am woman”. You know ..

“I am woman, hear me roar in numbers too big to ignore” etc. etc. That song, just lit me up. Every time I heard it I grew three inches and felt like I was coated in three inches of armour. I still do to this day. In fact, it still has such an impact that I sing that song to myself in my head before I go on stage to present at a seminar. When I do that, I feel like Xena Warrior Princess.

I know of many other women across my own Gen X crowd as well as the baby boomer and even Gen Y’s who have the same feeling when that song is played.

What songs inspire you and why. Let me know. I’d love to hear from you.

One Response to “Songs that Inspire”

  • I often wake up with the words of a song echoing in my head. The words of that specific song usually stay with me all day.

Some examples of the songs I have woken up with are:

“I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky”. This song lifted my spirits and my self esteem.

“Everything is beautiful in its own way”. Sometimes when I am being critical or judgmental these words remind me that everyone is unique and beautiful just the way they are.

“Reach out and touch somebody’s hand, make this world a better place if you can.” This song has beautiful memories. It reminds me of the two-day spiritual workshop I did many years ago. I find the music and the words very inspirational and meaningful.

Does anyone else wake up with the words to songs in their head?
